Question Details:
A solar heating system has a 25% conversion efficiency; the solar radiation incident on the panels is 1000 W/M^2.  What is the increase in temperature of 30 kg of water in a 1.0hr period by a 4.0m^2 area collector?

Response:
The intensity of radiation is
I = (P/A),where P is power and A is the collector area.
or P = I * A
Here,I = 1000 W/m^2 and A = 4.0m^2.
The work done is
W = P * t,where t = 1.0hr = 60 * 60 = 3600s
The work done is also given by
W = m * s * Δt
or Δt = [(W)/(m * s)]
Here,m = 30kg and s = 4190J/kg.K.Substituting the values of W,m and s,we get the value of increase in temperature.
