Question Details:
A 72-kg person sits on a 3.8 kg chair. each leg of the chair makes contact with the floor in a circle that is 1.3 cm in diameter. Find the pressure exerted on the floor by each leg of the chair, assuming the weight is evenly distributed. 

the Area of the circle is 1.33 cm squared.

Response:
total force exerted on the floor F = (72 + 3.8) * 9.8 N = 742.8 N
force exerted on the floor by each leg = F/4 = 185.7 N
pressure = 185.7/1.33 N/cm2 = 140 N/cm2
