Prove that if r is rational (r is not equal to 0) and x is irrational, then (r + x) and rx are irrational.

and sorry for second part:    Let a = 0.  Then a/b = 0, and so a/b * x = 0, which is rational.  Now assume that a is not 0.  And then go on with your proof.
