Convertion problem from inch to ft....
Course Textbook Chapter Problem
Classical Mechanics Vector Mechanics for Engineers: Statics (8th) by Johnston, Eisenberg, Beer 3 147
Question Details:
Hello,
I have seen the solution but I did it in another way by converting the inch to feet first.
I converted the inch to feet. However I got a -140lb.ft which the correct answer is -1521lb in.
If convertion is taken into account my answer should be 12 times bigger than the answer in pound inch. Why I cannot do it in terms of feet? What happened?

It was better If I see the orginal soluion but I don't see any mistake on your reasoning the correct answer should be 1680 lb in  If you got the question right then I think you are correct

I converted inch to foot before calculating the moment which ends up having -140lb.ft.

i just don't know why because converting inches to feet will end up having a smaller number instead of a bigger number than -1521lb.in.

lb.ft should be 12 times bigger than lb.in but i got an oppositely smaller number.

why?
