Digital Circuit
Course Textbook Chapter Problem
N/A N/A N/A N/A
Question Details:
A home entertainment center has four different audio sources that can be played over the same set of speakers. Each audio source, named A, B, C, and D, is connected using 8 wires on which an 8-bit audio signal is transmitted. The user selects which audi source is to be played using a rotary switch with four outputs: s0, s1, s2, and s3, of which exactly one will be ‘1’ at any given time. If s0=’1’, then audio source A is to be played; if s1=’1’ then audio source B; and, so on. Create a digital circuit with a single 8-bit output O that will output the user’s selected audio source. For an eight bit signal X, you can represent the most significant through least significant bits at X7, X6, X5, …, X1, X0. You may use any of the following: NOT, OR, AND, NAND, NOR, and CMOS transmission gate.

The audio sources A,B,C,D are having 8 output lines connected to a block contains 8 buffers their selection lines are connected to a 2X4 Decoder and the output lines of buffer block are given to the speaker where the whole system depends on the selection inputs of the decoder.
When XY are 00 then the audio signal A is selected.
When XY are 01 then the audio signal B is selected.
When XY are 10 then the audio signal C is selected.
When XY are 11 then the audio signal D is selected.

Hope this helps you............
