The Thrashing is caused by under allocation of the minimum number of pages required by a process, forcing it to continuously page fault. 

The Thrashing can be detected by the system when the CPU utilization starts decreasing and the number of page faults increases considerably. To eliminate the problem, the system can either decrease the degree of multiprogramming.
