Forces and Moments

Course Textbook Chapter Problem
Engineering Mechanics N/A N/A N/A
Question Details:

Dimensions:
O (0,0)
A(0,700)
B(800,300)
C(0,300)
D(800,0)

Tension in cable AB = 400 N and the Tension in cable CD=600N

(a) If you represent the forces exerted on the left post by the cables by a force F acting at the origin O and a couple M, what are F and M?

Should I break each force into components? This would give me an x and y component for each force and I could use that to find the moment.  Moment = r x F.  I tried this and used 400sin(27) and 400cos(27) for the force at AB <used right triangle trig with given demensions... and then 600cos(21) and 600sin(21) for the force at CD ... is that right? After I did that I'm stuck on the moments.  What do I use as the pivot point and the force point??

(b) If you represent the forces exerted on the left post by the cables by the force F alone, where does its line of action intersect the y-axis?

I'm really kind of lost even on the wording of this question
